U12 Gold Team - Update
I wanted to provide everyone with an update on U12 Gold Team formation plans.
Results of the player evaluations that were conducted in April have been considered by the Technical Committee. The committee has determined that there will be two U12 Girls teams playing out of Lochside Park next season - one Gold and one Silver. Gordon Head will form one Gold team and two or three Silver teams (depending on registration numbers).
Coach Selections
I have been selected as the U12 Girls Gold Coach. The decision on the Silver coach will not be made until the Gold team has been finalized.
Player Selections
Based on the assessments ten players have been automatically selected for the Gold team. A further four or five players have been identified as potential Gold-team players and will be invited to attend final team selection in August. All other players have been assigned to the Silver team.
We are presently anticipating carrying twelve players on the Gold team, but this may change +/- depending on final registration numbers.
Communications
All parents of players who attended assessments will be contacted by phone and advised of their child's status. I hope to begin phone calls this week and have it completed by early next week.
What's Next?
Dates for final team selection will be announced prior to the end of June. Try-outs will likely take place sometime in mid to late August. Practice nights and times will be confirmed around this time.
I appreciate this is an anxious time for most of the girls so I am happy to talk with parents/players about the process. As I've said to many people, being selected or not-selected for U12 Gold does not necessarily indicate where a player might be in twelve months time. What matters more is how an individual develops and applies their skills and that's entirely up to them.
